Build up your confidence before getting behind the wheel.

Some people seem to be confused about the current situation in place for driving lessons and driving tests. I am sure you have seen some instructors out in their cars with students so what are the new restrictions? Are you eligible to sit your driving test?

As of January 22nd, under the new level 5 restrictions, only essential workers with confirmed test dates are permitted to sit driving lessons/pretests. The list of essential jobs can be found here.

There is a new system in place to accommodate essential workers looking to book their driving test. You can now request an invitation to book a driving test here and simply select a suitable slot. If there are no suitable slots, you can be added to the waiting list. Driving tests are limited to those who have been invited so be sure to sign up for the invitation link.

If you are travelling beyond your 5km zone to sit your test, you should bring some confirmation of your test in case you are pulled by a member of An Garda Síochána on your way to or from your test.
